Windshield Cameras And ADAS Recalibration

If your windshield has a camera behind the mirror, recalibration is part of the job, not an upsell.

Does a new windshield need ADAS recalibration?

Yes, if your vehicle has a forward-facing camera mounted to the windshield.

Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning all read the road through that camera. Moving the glass by even a millimeter changes its aim. We identify ADAS vehicles when we quote, so recalibration is priced in rather than discovered later.

  • Required for camera-equipped vehicles
  • Identified at quoting time
  • Priced into the original quote

What happens if ADAS recalibration is skipped?

The safety systems can misjudge distance and lane position, which is a real safety risk.

A camera aimed even slightly wrong can brake late, brake for nothing, or drift the steering assist. Most manufacturers require recalibration after any windshield replacement on an ADAS vehicle, and skipping it can also affect a liability claim after a collision.

  • Manufacturer-required on most ADAS vehicles
  • Affects braking and lane assist accuracy
  • Never skipped on our installs

How do I know if my vehicle has ADAS?

Look for a camera housing behind the rear-view mirror, or lane and cruise icons on the dash.

If your vehicle warns you when you drift out of a lane, holds distance in cruise, or brakes on its own, it has ADAS. Tell us the year, make, model and VIN when you request a quote and we confirm it for you.

  • Camera behind the mirror
  • Lane keep or adaptive cruise on the dash
  • Send us the VIN and we confirm
